Probably same reason that the food is so dry. Pictures of food on their wall and what you get are very different. We won't be going back or recommending this place to anyone.
That has never been my experience i eat there regularly. I haven't found better thai food in Salem Kaiser area.
As a restaurant that adds the tip to the bill as a business practice, I don't think they give anything away.
This was by far the worse place I've ate. At first glance it seems nice. However, the server was very unfriendly. The yellow curry chicken that i order she stated that it comes without any side, therefore we need to order a side of rice. The curry it self came with lots of onions and carrots very very very little chicken on it. So we decided to order a side of chicken, they literally boil the chicken in the hot water with no salt nor other condiments and it tasted like microwave chicken. Horrible place to go and not worth my $35 for what i order.
Best sushi joint in town.
Best Thai food in the Salem -Keizer area. I have been going to this restaurant since I was young and the food quality and taste has always been great. I highly recommend it.
Great food and great service. Family friendly. Nice and clean, well lit.
Food is amazing. Great service. The Pad Thai is the best I've had in Salem. I have been to Thai lotus multiple times and always good. Yum.
Pad Thai and drunken noodle was marginal at best. Very dry and flavorless. I used to really like this place but the food and the service have gone hill.
Love the way they cut tofu here. Curry was delightful, waitress was pleasant. They use a lot of green beans in their Panang which was a little odd for me, but not bad.
Best Pad Thai I have ever had. Fresh, savory flavors, packed with a kick.Make it for lunch for an affordable lunch date for 2 under $20.Mmm delicious.
I had their onion pancakes and Pad Thai. The pancakes were interesting and not something I had seen before. It was like an Asian bloomin onion. The pad Thai noodles were cooked perfectly al dente. The pad Thai sauce brought me back to Thailand with its balance of salty, slightly fishy, and sweet..yum! It was excellent. Unfortunately they do not use Thai chili's so if you want some authentic heat, this place isn't for you. I ordered mine "pet ma" which is Thai for "very hot" and i barely noticed any heat. A solid 4 stars for Salem.
Peanut sauce is amazing!
Great food. Staff is very friendly.
The food is really great. The service is even better. The woman took my order even though they were closing for the night, which I had no clue. I will definitely visit again!!
The food size portions were so small, some plates we ordered weren’t even half full. High priced for the amount of food you get on a plate.
I was disappointed ☹️. We got 2 orders of panang curry with chicken, lots of veggies, little chicken, and little flavor. Could have benefited from some more coconut milk. THE CURRY DIDNT COME WITH RICE 😲😲😡. We also ordered pad Thai noodles that were dry and could use a lot more flavor. Chicken again was minimal. We also ordered 2 chicken sauté apps (for the kids). The chicken was very small and dry! The peanut sauce was pretty good! We also ordered a side of large rice for the kids. I had no idea the curry didn’t come with rice... so all 5 of us had to share the large (2 cups) cooked rice... we ended up having to make extra rice at home. I was upset that the lady didn’t warn us that you have to order rice separately from your meal. 3 meals, two apps, and a side of rice was over $50 bucks. The curry already cost $11 on its own... Chicago has cheaper curry than that and they have sales tax! I was very disappointed and will most likely not return.
Restaurant was slow, food was slow. Taste was average at best and Smallest portion of thai I've ever had. Wont be back unfortunately. Ordered the Pad Thai.
Small portions. Oily food.
They created incredible fresh tasting dishes for my family and we didn’t realize until we left that we had stopped in 5 mins before they closed. Epic
My favorite Thai place!! The good is fresh and yummy! The Thai ice to is delicious. They have some small gifts for sale that are always cool. Find something new everytime.
We got take out from here for the first time, very friendly staff and quick wait time for the take out food. We both got drunken noodle dishes, one with shrimp and one with chicken. Very good flavor and portion size for the price point. It was slightly smaller portion than other restaurants I have been to, but it was also notably less expensive, so overall quite fair. We also had the appetizer sample pack, comes with two of each appetizer: mini pancakes, fried wontons, egg rolls, and fried dumplings, all we're delicious! Will definitely come back! Not sure exactly why so many other negative reviews, I did not experience this.
Great food. If you're going with a big group for lunch call ahead.
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, perfect portions!! The service and food was deserving pf over 5 stars!!! I will be back again!!
I honestly don't understand the bad reviews. This is a nice small Thai restaurant with good food and prices. My phad Thai was good with plenty of sprouts and whatnot, my boyfriend's Thai spicy green beans with tofu was great and comparable to some more expensive places. You do have to get a side of rice with it, but it's only an extra dollar. Our food came out to $20.50. Service was also pretty quick.
Honestly a wonderful experienc. We order the food through the phone and we pick it up and it tastes absolutely wonderful. The drunken noodle and silver noodles were amazing. The orange chicken is very citrusy but still very good. The food is nicely cooked and so far we haven't had a bad experience with the business. It is however more costly than your average place, but what can you say when you get quality service and great food.
Trust the reviews here. The best word to describe our experience with this Thai food is “meh.” It could have been an off night, but regardless, the noodles were tacky, the sauce was there to give the noodles coloring and not much else, and there were scrambled egg pieces in this dish (I’m not a Thai expert by any stretch, but I’ve never had scrambled egg pieces in other Pad Thai dishes before. And if I did, they were well incorporated into the dish that I never noticed). The shrimp was well over cooked, and the whole meal left us wanting. I would not recommend this place again (based on our experience along with the general ratings and reviews here), and I would say try somewhere else in town. The Thai Orchid is a better Thai place than here. But, it you want a great self-paced history lesson of Thailand’s Royal Family, this IS the place to go.
So good. The entree was great, and the coconut ice cream was the best ice cream I've ever had. Really nice atmosphere and service.
Amazing food! I’ve been eating here for 14 years!
Great Food and the waitress was very nice. The only thing was that I didn't know what drinks they served and all she gave was water so that's all I drank. If they could have a drink menu or put the drinks somewhere people could see what's available that would be great.
I don't know what happened. Thai Lotus used to be my favorite Thai food in Salem/Keizer. Over the past year it has quickly gone done hill. This last order had the texture of food that has been microwaved multiple times, the flavor was off had none of the normal garnishments were there for pad Thai. Also, I think the price went up What happened?? 🙁
They are sort of OK but you can certainly find better food elsewhere
wow ... I ordered some red curry pork with coconut milk ...not coconut flavour ..pork meat? found 3 little square pieces. Sauce runny.
Very tiny amounts & not the best quality.
We came to the town just for a short vacation, and picked this place because of Entertainment coupon. Thankfully, it's with a coupon. We ordered Chicken Paradise and Chicken curry, and Chicken satay. The food taste is not good at all. The only decent one is the chicken satay. Chicken Paradise was very weird sour taste and I think it's because the fermented carrot is not good anymore. The curry just taste like coconut milk. Very dissapointed and won't visit this place again.
This used to be our favorite Thai restaurant but over the years the service become poor, the portions got smaller and smaller. The cost of the meals for the amount of food you receive is poor. Don’t get me wrong the flavor is still pretty good just overpriced for the amount of food you’re served. We eat elsewhere now
Our go to place for Thai food. Love the pad Thai, yellow curry, pad see ew, and sweet and sour stir fry. The food is always good and love the service we get. Waitress knows our order by heart and it feels very welcoming each time we come in.
Food is always great, and nice people too.
Kind of expensive but the food is good. Great service.
Amazing tofu drunken noodle. Absolutely top notch.
Portions were ridiculously small for the price. The stir fry didn’t even come with rice, you have to order it separately. The flavor was alright but not worth the price or portion. Highly recommend going to the much better Thai place a couple blocks north, called sweet home.
We come here time and time again and are always so happy when we leave. Prices are decent, and service is always wonderful. We don't come here often, but it's usually quiet when we do. We like to save this place for special occasions just because we love it so much. (Their coconut ice cream is delicious!)
My wife and I ate at Thai Lotus last weekend, the food was very good (i had the red curry with shrimp, yum!). My wife had pan friend noodles which were very good, she tried my curry, now we are going back next weekend just so my wife can have the curry. Good food, reasonably priced, and solid service. We will definitely recommend this place to friends.
I just created a "Never Again" list after using Google Maps for 15+ years; made it just for this place!Asked for light ice in the Thai tea so she brought a 12oz jar w/handle and it was just over half full including ice but full price. Small portions, high prices, waitress had bad attitude (and 0 patience) then tried to charge me extra to use the Entertainment Book coupon- No, a forced 15% gratuity to use a coupon is not okay when the coupon doesn't have such a requirement listed and the service was terrible! To the waitress that served us and took my payment: You're lucky I don't speak Thai because I heard you whisper that word to yourself as I walked away and you saw the $0.00 tip. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.
Got the chicken curry and was very happy. Nice relaxing atmosphere. :-)
Food was good. I will give it that. Lunch service was horrendous! Our server needs a lesson on how to treat her customers. I was a waiter for several years and I would have never been pushy or short with my customers like she was with us. It made it hard to enjoy my food.
Very good, reasonably priced Thai food.
They force you to tip 15% to be able to use a coupon eventhough the service is terrible. After I said I don't want to tip 15% and she said something using her language. The waitress had bad attitude... VERY small portion of food. The food its okay.
The shrimp wrapped in bacon (piggyback) appetizer is awesome! I always get that and the chicken pad thai and have never been disappointed!
Stopped in and ordered pineapple fried rice to go. Was asked if chicken and shrimp were ok and paid $13.50. Flavor was ok, but portion was VERY small, included ONLY 2 shrimp and very few paper thin pieces of chicken. Big disappointment and won't go back.
Quiet and romantic. Consistently great Thai favorites. Great service.
The food here is amazing! My fiance had the beef pad thai and I had the Thai lotus noodles and it was amazing. The place is small but super cute. And our server was wonderful! We will definitely be back!
Great food. Prompt and friendly service. The restaurant was full but still able to accommodate a quick lunch hour window. Love the salad rolls and Pad Thai.
